The Speakeasy

The website shares no address. The bar has no sign. With a passcode uttered at a plain, unmarked door, we're led to a back room through a fake door in an old bookcase.

A dimly lit library greets us, with floor to ceiling books on one side and velvet wallpaper and brick on the other.

Last night, we stepped back into time, visiting an actual 1920s speakeasy that was shutdown during prohibition. The music, ambiance and crowd-vibe have to have made this one of my favorite San Francisco stops in recent history!

Coffee Name

I can place a long, convoluted coffee order that requires 2 minutes of description without any ambiguities, yet each time the person at Starbucks asks for my name, it requires 3 repetitions and a spelling. 'Heida' is a terrible name to use when placing a coffee order.

So I'd like to suggest that some of us need 'coffee names', for use at Starbucks and Petes - with possible extension to use in bars and other loud places.

After trial and error on a variety of coffee names, I've settled on 'Joe'. It's an ideal Coffee name in that it is just one syllable, is a widely recognized name, and has a strong starting consonant that carries across the noise of cappuccino machines. Cuppa........ joe?
